Interesting episode of Law & Order, rerun.

Maybe you'll remember this episdode. I didn't. L&O episocdes are
either not named like Rawhide and some other shows' are, or they deleted
that part to make more room for commercials.

First I noticed that the DA or New York County, played by Dianne Wiest,
mentioned that Rudy appointed her to the job.

Then the plot got more relevant. It was about a murder, of a woman who
looked like the target. The target was an investigative reporter who
found that an unusual number of voting machines, 12, failed to work on
election day afternoon, so they had to switch to paper ballots, and 2000
paper ballots were missing. The number was recorded at the polling
place but a lower number at the county elections office.

They found the mechanic who worked on the machines, who had 'weakened
the rivets' so that the levers broke off. He connected them to the guy
who hired him, a gangster.

They tracked down the missing ballots, in the possession of the mob guy,
at their "clubhouse" and DA had the elections office counting them to
establish a motive for having the machines broken. But the lawyer for
someoene?? got a TRO to stop the counting. A 5-judge panel heard the
case and permanently enjoined the vote counting, on a strict party-line
vote (They didn't say and it doesn't matter which party is which here.)

The reporter had called her source and he didn't want his name revealed.
But later they pressured her, reminded her that the woman killed in her
place left a husband and small child. So she gave in and gave them the
sources name, who turned out to the main assistent to the woman who
would have lost the election had all the votes been counted. The
episode closes but presumably she was convicted of murder in the 2nd
degree and conspiracy in the first degree.

The plot is not very close to today's big news but it does involve
elections, vote counting, ballots, invalid ballots, and at least one
sleaze-bag.

This is the one Rudy was in.

True, I had said "... the DA or New York County, played by Dianne

This is it. How did you find it?

On the Bounce network they don't give episode names. They seem to do
evrything possible to shorten the show to make more room for
commercials. And they have loads of commercials but they are grouped in
3 to 5 minute groups. When they resume the show after a set of
commercials, it's 1/10th of a second before what I hope is the first
word of dialogue, no time spent walking across the floor or anything
like that, just to save 2 or 3 seconds. It's a small nuisance.

So far, no murders counting the trump/Biden election, but one vote
counter in Georgia had to go into hiding. A counting watcher saw him
wad up a piece of paper that had voter instructions on it, included with
the ballot by some voters, and claimed he was wadding up a ballot and
throwing it away. His name got posted along with his address and the
kind of car he drives, including I think his license plate, so he's gone
into hiding. Trumpies are wonderful people. And btw, the ballots are 8"
wide by 18" long, and really hard to confuse with most pieces of paper
except by morons.

I watch it on bounce too but it is your guide that is not posting the
episode name. TiVo always puts the episode name up in the guide. Dish
did it too so it is available.
I found the episode with a quick search on IMDB. Rudy only did one
"Endurance" but it wasn't "Deep Vote", the other one you referenced
with the voting machine plot. I happened to have them both in my TiVo
so they must have played recently. They are chugging through the
series and the blonde chick has showed up. I guess Fred Thompson is
coming soon. ;-)

Aha. I record it on a DVDR, and when it's no longer live, there is no
guide. That was one of the complaints by other customers, but they
stopped making the Philips DVDR before they changed that. In fact I
don't think they ever made improvements after the first update, which
iiuc only corrected flaws.

They put a lot of effort into editing videos, someething I'll never do.

The one I referenced was yesterday. The other one might be too, or the
day before, or today. There are 2 to 3 hours a day of them and I can't
keep up, so it turns out I'm not watching them in order.

them occasionally so I keep 25 spinning on the TiVo.

I thought I saw them all, except I stopped watching the series about sex
crimes. It was too violent and disgusting (and I think they're still
making new episodes).

But I see some I don't remember ever seeing before. I don't know if I
really did or not.

Some cut.

WE tv had some L&O reruns on last night. BBC America runs L&O
episodes starting around noon Sundays and goes maybe to midnight. I ran
across a couple episodes on a weekday morning but I don't remember the
channel. Spectrum TV.

Is that the episode where the socialist democrats defunded the police?

I will look for those. Bounce snips a few seconds here and htere, and
maybe more, to make room for commercials.

WE tv. I thought you said MeTV**. I don't get We, but I'll keep
looking.

They have a trick where they actually compress the show to make it
shorter and stuff a few more minutes in. Then they overlay the credits
with the lead in for the next show getting another minute.
I don't really pay that much attention but the breaks run either 4
minutes or 5 based in the skips I use. The first break is always 5
minutes. They do throw in a 4 minute one but I think the last one is 5
minutes too.

Yeah, that probably it! It sounds right. Maybe I'll time the
commericials and add them all up. Not necessarily on Bounce, there is a
ccmmercial to prevent starving dogs that runs 3 minutes.

> Then they overlay the credits
>with the lead in for the next show getting another minute.

Bounce shows the Law and Order credits in the bottom left about a minute
before the show ends. It's a blur. I wonder how big the tv would have to
be to be able to read it.

Another network shows outgoing and incoming shows on left and right side
of the screen.

I watched one last night and counted the number of 30 second skips.
They seem to put 17.5 minutes of commercials in the show and I think
normal prime time puts in 16 minutes.
The overlay at the end gets them a minute so they must be squeezing
another 30 seconds somewhere.
